Leonard Shapiro is an author and journalist. Shapiro was hired by the Washington Post to cover high school sports before working his way up to becoming the sports editor. He has written several books on sports, including Big Man on Campus, about Georgetown basketball coach John Thompson, and Athletes For Sale, which he co-wrote with the late Ken Denlinger about college recruiting. He graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin in 1968 and got his master’s from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
