In the wake of the death of Maryland offensive lineman Jordan McNair and the ensuing fallout surrounding the athletic department, the Povich Center has convened a panel to discuss the coverage to date as well as what’s next.

The Center will host “Crisis At Maryland: Covering A Tragedy & The Fallout” on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Eaton Theater of Knight Hall on the University of Maryland campus.

The panel will feature Christine Brennan (USA Today), James Crabtree-Hannigan (The Diamondback), Rick Maese (The Washington Post), David Steele (Sporting News), and Dave Zirin (The Nation).

George Solomon, director of the Shirley Povich Center, and Kevin Blackistone, professor of practice, will moderate.

Audience members will be encouraged to ask the panelists questions following the formal discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
