Here’s a recap of the latest sports news:

  • NFLPA reportedly issues players a “work stoppage guide” in case of a strike or lockout after the 2020 season, Sports Illustrated reports.
  • Only two MLB teams have been as far down in the standings as the Nationals were — 12 below .500 — and rallied to make the playoffs in the last 30 years. The Athletic’s Brittany Ghiroli chronicled how each did it and if the Nats are built to do the same.
  • WCBS 880 Mets play-by-play broadcaster Howie Rose is heading to the Hall of Fame. Entercom announced late Wednesday that Rose has been selected to the 2019 class of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, which honors players, executives, broadcasters, team staff and other influential members in baseball in the state.
  • The starting quarterbacks have yet to be named in Washington and Miami. Is Ryan Fitzpatrick the clear frontrunner for the Dolphins? Does Dwayne Haskins still have a chance to claim the starting spot for the Redskins? MMQB’s Albert Breer breaks it down.
