Virtual Panel: Impact of COVID-19 on Sports

The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism will host a virtual panel on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sports world. The discussion will take place online on Wednesday, April 1 from 7-8 p.m.

Moderated by Philip Merrill professor and Washington Post columnist Kevin Blackistone, panelists will discuss the actions taken by professional teams and leagues, as well as the NCAA, in the wake of the pandemic. The panel will also highlight the decision to postpone the Tokyo Olympics, the impact the virus has had on athletes and fans, and the overall coverage of the pandemic by sports media outlets.
