COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Members of The Athletic staff, along with the local media, will gather in Knight Hall’s Eaton Theater at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 to discuss The Athletic’s two-year emergence.

The panel, hosted by the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism, will feature Marty Kaiser (Howard Distinguished Visiting Fellow), Josh Land, (Sports Editor, The Baltimore Sun), Greg Lee (Senior Managing Editor, D.C. Athletic), Ben Strauss (Sports & Media Reporter, The Washington Post) and Rhiannon Walker (Redskins Feature Writer, D.C. Athletic).

George Solomon, director of the Povich Center, and Kevin Blackistone, professor of practice at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, will moderate.

“The Athletic’s emergence has been one of the most significant developments in sports journalism over the past two years,” Solomon said. “The quality of the site, its growing staff of talented writers and reporters and competitive attitude make The Athletic a major force in the world of sports media.”

Audience members will be encouraged to ask the panelists questions after a formal discussion. The event is free and open to the public.
