Povich Center To Host 12th Annual Workshop
Mar 27, 2019

The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism will host its 12th annual Workshop and Jamboree on Saturday, April 13 in Knight Hall.

Members of the sports media community will work with high school and college journalism students from around the region on different skill sets, including reporting, writing, editing, social media, television and radio production, as well as working for a university, pro team and league.

“The 12th annual Shirley Povich Workshop and Jamboree is our attempt to interest high school and college students in journalism as a potential career,” said George Solomon, director of the Povich Center. “Thanks to the efforts of media professionals from around the area, students are exposed to disciplines such as reporting, feature writing, covering teams, television production and on-air presence, as well as sports radio, photography and web design. We also offer tips for getting into college and a panel on making the most of your high school and college years.”

The workshop is free but registration is required. Register here
